Volunteer Events
Without our community volunteers, this effort would not be possible – thank you!
The City of Naples has held four volunteer events involving over 100 volunteers from throughout the community to help fill fossilized shell into bags, which are placed on the bay bottom to create new oyster reefs. The Coastal Conservation Association along with numerous students from various schools helped with these efforts. In May 2019, volunteers helped deploy around 60 tons of shell bags at Site 3, which is located at the mouth of Rock Creek and the Gordon River. This along with donated time and equipment by Garland and Garland jump started the restoration process at this site, was completed in early 2020.
